Afternoon Tea at the Parlour Room in Haddington House

Afternoon Tea at Haddington House in Dún Laoghaire offers the traditional experience you may expect, with a service and style that will delight. Served in the decadent surroundings of the Parlour room, guests will be truly spoilt with carefully curated savoury and sweet courses overlooking Dún Laoghaire Harbour.

The design-led interior styling of Haddington House harks back to Victorian times, with plush velvet and tapestry textures, marble and brass detailing. An independent 45-bedroom hotel, Haddington House is a collection of four restored Victorian townhouses. Afternoon tea was a regular occurrence in Haddington House in the early 1900s, so it is fitting that the Haddington House team continues this tradition served in the hotel’s Parlour rooms.

On arrival, guests of Afternoon Tea are offered a seasonal savoury snack, a Gougère filled with comté and finished with fresh truffle shaving.

The savoury course is a selection of sandwiches including Irish smoked salmon with pickled cucumber and dill cream cheese; baked ham, Wicklow brie and raisin mustard on wholemeal bread. The pastry team has crafted a signature Haddington House scone which pairs with Haddington House’s homemade jams and clotted cream. Accompanying the scone is a selection of loose-leaf Ronnefeldt tea served in fine bone china, prepared and poured at the guests’ table to their preferred strength.

The Afternoon Tea experience finishes on a sweet note with a raspberry lychee and rose crème pâtissière, a caramelised meringue, yuzu compote, lemon and vanilla cheesecake and a reworked Tiramisu with cocoa sable, a coffee jelly, mascarpone cream and a chocolate glaze. Each patisserie is created to complement the other and provide a lightness that ensures a fitting conclusion to the Haddington House Afternoon Tea experience.

Guests can enhance the experience with a bespoke cocktail, Piper-Heidsieck Brut champagne, or a glass of alcohol-free Noughty by Thomson & Scott.

Virginia Anton, Food and Beverage Director at Haddington House said, “We have combined our exceptional personalised service with the traditional experience of afternoon tea to create something that will be a truly memorable experience for guests. It’s the perfect treat or get-together for those who enjoy beautiful food and the tradition of afternoon tea with the added bonus of sea views”.

The Parlour Afternoon Tea is served every Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 4 pm, priced at €50 per person for the Classic Afternoon Tea, and €65 per person for the Champagne Afternoon Tea which includes a glass of champagne on arrival.
