Currys is turning the big 3-0 in Ireland this October and, to celebrate, the retailer is giving primary schools across the country the chance to get their hands on some brilliant new tech.

To celebrate 30 years in Ireland, Currys is launching a nationwide (ROI only) competition that will see three primary schools each win €3,000 worth of technology, giving away a total of €9,000 in tech to support the education of local children.

Currys first opened its doors in Ireland in October 1996, with its Jervis Shopping Centre store in Dublin becoming the retailer’s first Irish location. Thirty years later, Currys is celebrating the milestone by giving something back to the schools and communities it has served over the past three decades.

From interactive classroom technology to laptops, tablets and other useful kit, €3,000 worth of new tech could make a real difference to a primary school. And entering couldn’t be simpler.

Currys is asking people across the Republic of Ireland to nominate a primary school that matters to them and give three reasons why their school deserves a €3,000 Currys tech package. Parents, teachers, caretakers and anyone else with a connection to a primary school can enter on its behalf, provided they are aged 18 or over. Three winning schools will then be selected, with each receiving €3,000 worth of Currys technology. Enter HERE.

Jaimie Cantwell, Head of Brand & Marketing at Currys Ireland, said: “Turning 30 is a brilliant milestone for Currys in Ireland and we wanted to celebrate it by doing something that could have a lasting impact in communities around the country. Technology has changed enormously since we opened our first Irish store in Jervis Shopping Centre back in 1996, and it has also become an increasingly important part of how children learn and explore the world around them.”

“We know there are fantastic primary schools doing incredible work in every corner of Ireland, so we want to hear what makes your local school special. Tell us why they deserve a tech boost and they could be one of three schools receiving €3,000 worth of new technology.”

To officially launch the birthday celebrations and competition, Aidan Fleming, General Manager of Currys Jervis SC joined children from local school - Presentation Primary School George’s Hill for a special 30th birthday photocall, helping the retailer announce details of the competition and marking three decades since its first Irish store opened there.

The competition will be open nationwide, meaning primary schools from Dublin to Donegal and Cork to Cavan have the chance to take home one of the three prizes.

How to enter:

  • Visit currys.ie/currys-30th-birthday-competition.html and tell Currys three reasons why your school deserves this super tech package.

  • The competition closes on 26th October 2026.

  • The competition is open to residents of the Republic of Ireland aged 18 and over who are entering on behalf of a primary school with which they have a connection, including parents, teachers, caretakers and other members of the school community.

  • Terms and conditions apply.
