Embrace Springtime Flavours With Favourites From The Möet Hennessy Rosé Champagne Portfolio

With the Spring season upon us, it is the perfect time of year to share the fresh and delicate flavours of rosé in the company of family and friends. No matter your taste preference, Moët Hennessy’s rosé champagne portfolio has something for everyone this season.

For over 280 years, Moët & Chandon has been the champagne of choice for commemorating intimate moments and the grandest of events, thanks to its legacy of generosity and the House’s recognised know-how in the art of celebration.

A spontaneous and romantic expression of the Moët & Chandon style, Rosé Impérial (€69.50) is distinguished by its bright fruitiness, seductive palate and elegant maturity. With tasting notes that include an intense combination of red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry, cherry), floral nuances of rose and a slight hint of pepper, Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial is the perfect complement to raw or lightly grilled red meats, colourful vegetables and fish.

Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial is available in independent off-licences including Deveney’s, Redmonds, Bradley’s Cork, Baggot St Wines, World Wide Wines, The Wine Centre, Leonards Fine Wines and in leading outlets nationwide including O’Briens, Molloys, Brown Thomas, Dunnes Stores, Tesco and SuperValu.

Veuve Clicquot upholds the legacy of Madame Clicquot, or the “grande dame of champagne”, who became one of the first modern entrepreneurs in an era when women were excluded from the business world. Her creativity and lust for innovation led to many firsts in Champagne, including the first known blended rosé champagne.

Veuve Clicquot Rosé (€79.75) is perfectly balanced in the best Veuve Clicquot style of pink champagnes, combining elegance and flair. This delectably full champagne can be enjoyed as a true delicacy. Full bodied and deliciously fruity, with intense flavours of juicy ripe strawberries and cherries and aromas of red and black fruits (cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry), spices, licorice, pastry (biscuit, croissant), orange zest, gingerbread and toasted bread. Veuve Clicquot Rosé is the expression of Madame Clicquot’s ingenious and audacious spirit.

This champagne pairs perfectly with an array of fish such as tuna, smoked salmon and shrimp as well as duck dishes. Veuve Clicquot Rosé is available from leading independent off-licences including 64 Wines, Bubble Brothers Cork, Celtic Whiskey Shop, Grape & Bean, The Vintry, Mitchell & Sons, O'Briens, The Corkscrew, Whelehans Wines, The Wine Centre, Jus De Vine, Molloys and Brown Thomas.

Ruinart was born in the age of enlightenment, when Nicolas Ruinart had the vision to establish the first House of Champagne in an age of ideas, connection and conversation, refinement and culture. Since then, Ruinart has always had a vision for an enlightened future, nurturing natural ingredients and passing down the French savoir-faire from generation to generation.

Ruinart Rosé (€110.80) is a blend of the freshness of chardonnay, which is the signature taste of Ruinart, and the fruitiness of pinot noir. Revealing coral and rosewood colourful hues, first impressions on the nose reveal intense aromas of tropical fruit such as pomegranate, lychee and guava, complemented by floral essences of damask rose and freshly picked red berries. This cuvée’s fresh character on the palate combines a refined structure and delicate roundness, while the elegant finish provides notes of peppermint and pink grapefruit.

Ruinart’s Resident Chef Valérie Radou and Cellar Master Frédéric Panaïotis recommend pairing with oily fish and shellfish, and it is also suitable for pairing with charcuterie and more powerful meats like duck. Ruinart Rosé is available at The Champagne Destination at Brown Thomas Dublin, The Corkscrew, Baggot Street Wines, Jus de Vine, 64 Wines, Higgins, Mitchell & Son, Whelehans’s Wines, On The Grapevine; The Wine Centre Kilkenny, World Wide Wine Waterford and Bubble Brothers Cork.

Dom Pérignon’s creative ambition is a perpetual quest for harmony as a source of emotion.Every creative process faces constraints. For Dom Pérignon, this means always a vintage wine.

Dom Pérignon Rosé (€491.05) expresses this timeless desire to explore the edge, harnessing the raw power of the red of the pinot noir grape in a radiant assemblage. The Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 stretches the aesthetic principles of Dom Pérignon. Its vibrancy is surprising, as is the lively nature of its mouth-feel, which really brings out its richness and structure. On the nose, after fleeting aromas of rose, orange oil and saffron, the bouquet becomes warmer, dominated by red fruit (raspberry and cherry) then somber touches of cassis and fig. Sweetness ultimately triumphs, with notes of gingerbread and licorice. On the palate, the fruit is majestic, ripe, fleshy and profound. After a markedly smooth and round initial mouthfeel, the wine nestles in the heart of the palate, settling with a sort of intimately intense caress. The power is contained, and the dominant impression is consistency.

Sapid sensations converge and persist, leaving the memory of their tactile imprint. This wine pairs wonderfully with oysters and crustaceans, accompanied by vegetables like aubergine, pumpkin and chicory. Dom Pérignon Rosé is available from The Corkscrew, The Wine Centre Kilkenny, Jus De Vine and Terroirs.

Krug was established in Reims in 1843 by Joseph Krug, driven by his understanding that the true essence of Champagne is pleasure itself. His dream was to offer the very best Champagne every year, regardless of annual climate variations.

Krug Rosé 26th Edition (€597.20) is an unexpected Rosé Champagne combining elegance and boldness– inspired by the dream of the fifth generation of the House of Krug to conceive a Rosé Champagne that did not exist, a Rosé Champagne that could be re-created every year. Krug Rosé 26ème Édition was composed around the harvest of 2014, an erratic year in Champagne that oscillated between hot dry spells and cool rainy periods. In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up33% of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé. At first sight, its subtle pale pink colour holds apromise of elegance. On the nose, aromas bloom of rose hips, cured ham, mulberries, redcurrant, peony, pepper and pink grapefruit. On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit with a long finish, enhanced by its fine bubbles complete the experience.

Unexpectedly, Krug Rosé 26ème Édition best accompanies very savoury dishes. It can be enjoyed with foie gras, lamb, game, white meat, venison or even dishes with spices. Krug Rosé is not recommended for desserts, unless they are not sweet at all. It is available from Green Acres Wexford, The Corkscrew, Deveney's and Celtic Whiskey Shop

Embrace the floral bouquets and delicate bubbles of the Moët Hennessy Rosé Champagne portfolio this season, with something to enjoy for every taste, Springtime meal and savoir faire celebration with loved ones.
