Odds halved on Barry Keoghan to play James Bond

Barry Keoghan has emerged as a serious contender to be the next James Bond, according to Ladbrokes.

The Saltburn star has seen his odds halved for the role in recent days and he is now just 5/1 to replace Daniel Craig. He isn’t the only Irish name linked to the job, with Paul Mescal also a mover in the betting. Mescal is now 6/1 from 14/1 to get cast as Bond.

Elsewhere, Oscars favourite Cillian Murphy doesn’t remain without a chance and is currently chalked up at 10/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "Irish actors are dominating Hollywood right now and if the odds are anything to go by, we will see another Irish star take on the James Bond role. Right now momentum is with Barry Keoghan, but Paul Mescal isn’t far behind in the pecking order."
