The Helix Panto, ‘The Snow Queen’ announced today that a specially adapted sensory friendly performance will take place on Tuesday, 16th of December.

The specially adapted performance of ‘The Snow Queen’ will include softer on stage lighting and compressed sound, with no sudden noises or bangs. The lighting in the auditorium will remain on ensuring the audience feel entirely comfortable throughout the performance, with a special breakout quiet space also available for families if needed.

In addition to these changes, no flashing merchandise will be available at The Helix for this particular sensory friendly performance. Assistant dogs are welcome in the theatre, and a particular allowance is made for those who may need to move around more or who may react in different ways to the performance.

Produced by TheatreworX Productions, The Helix was the first theatre in Ireland to stage a panto performance incorporating the different sensory needs so that children can have an enjoyable festive experience with their family.

Speaking on the announcement, Claire Tighe, CEO of TheatreworX Productions said, “At TheatreworX Productions, we believe theatre should be a magical experience for everyone. Our sensory-friendly performance allows families to enjoy all the fun and festive excitement of panto in a calm, welcoming setting tailored to their needs. It’s a highlight of our season and an important part of our mission to ensure that live theatre is open, inclusive, and joyful for all.”
