Celtic Whiskey Shop is adding another exceptional bottle to its collection of premium Irish whiskeys with the launch of an exclusive 22-year-old single cask bottling from Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.

Since opening in June 2003, the multi-award-winning retailer has established itself as a destination for whiskey enthusiasts in Ireland and beyond, with a reputation for sourcing distinctive bottlings and exclusive releases. Its latest collaboration with Redbreast is a particularly special addition, offering whiskey lovers the opportunity to experience a rare expression matured across two distinct cask types.

Cask No. 190915 began its maturation journey at Midleton Distillery in March 2004, resting initially in refill bourbon barrels before being transferred to a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt in 2010. This combination of casks brings together the influence of bourbon maturation with the rich, complex character associated with Oloroso sherry.

Hand-selected exclusively for Celtic Whiskey Shop by Redbreast Master Blender Dave McCabe, the single cask has yielded just 609 bottles, making it a limited release for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Meet Redbreast Master Blender Dave McCabe

To celebrate the launch, Celtic Whiskey Shop is welcoming Dave McCabe to its store at 27–28 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, for a special in-store tasting this afternoon.

Taking place from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, the event offers visitors the opportunity to meet the Master Blender, learn more about the whiskey and sample the new exclusive release at a barrel tasting.

Alastair Alpine, Managing Director of Celtic Whiskey Shop, said: “We’re incredibly proud to bring this exclusive Redbreast release to our customers. Redbreast is a hugely important name in Irish whiskey, and having the opportunity for Matt, Dara, Katie & myself to work with Dave McCabe and the team at Midleton to select a 22-year-old single cask has been a real privilege."

“We’re always looking for special bottles that offer something distinctive to whiskey enthusiasts, and this release is a perfect example. With just 609 bottles available, it’s a genuinely limited release, and we’re delighted that Dave will be joining us in the shop to celebrate the launch and give people the opportunity to taste it for themselves.”

Redbreast 22-Year-Old Single Cask: Tasting Notes

Nose

Honey-drizzled dark fruits, chocolate shavings and earthy undertones lead the way, followed by waves of dark treacle and sultanas. Toasted almonds and hazelnuts add a nutty dimension, resting on a solid foundation of oak.

Taste

An initial burst of pot still spices gives way to sugar-glazed cherries, dried fruits and warming nuttiness. Oak tannins bring subtle hints of dark chocolate and black tea, adding depth and complexity to the palate.

Finish

A long-lasting finish sees the oak and fruit notes gradually fade, allowing the characteristic pot still spices to linger until the very end.
