Decathlon brings first-ever PlayDays event to Dublin with 20+ FREE Sports Experiences

Decathlon Ballymun is inviting families, friends and the wider community to get active, try something new and celebrate the power of sport at the first-ever Decathlon Ballymun PlayDays, taking place at Ballymun United Soccer Complex on the 20th and 21st June 2026.
The free two-day event will transform the venue into a community sports hub, giving visitors the chance to try more than 20 sports and activities in one place. Advance booking is required due to venue capacity limits, with free tickets available here.
From football, cycling and basketball to archery, badminton, golf and family fitness sessions, PlayDays is designed to help people of all ages and abilities discover new sports in a fun and welcoming environment.
Delivered in partnership with Ballymun United Soccer Complex and local sporting organisations, the event will feature Ballymun FC, Ballymun Kickhams, Cycling Ireland, Lucan BMX, Swim Ireland, Setanta GAA, Tolka Rovers Basketball Club, BGF Rugby, RNLI, IKEA and a range of local fitness and community groups.
"We want to create a space where everyone feels comfortable trying something new and discovering the benefits of sport," said Graham Mahon, Partnerships and Events Manager at Decathlon Ireland. "Decathlon PlayDays is about bringing communities together, encouraging active lifestyles and helping people find activities they can enjoy for life. We're delighted to host our first Ballymun PlayDays alongside so many fantastic local clubs and organisations."
Visitors can meet local clubs in the Community Sports Village, take part in free family fitness classes in the Movement Hub and enjoy expert-led sports demonstrations throughout the weekend.
The event will also feature Decathlon's Circularity Hub, where visitors can receive free bike health checks and learn about the retailer's BuyBack programme, including an exclusive 20% bonus on BuyBack gift cards during the event.
Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Great Outdoors Experience, showcasing camping equipment and adventure gear, while attendees can also enjoy competitions, giveaways, member-exclusive offers and food from Pitchside Pizza & Grill.
Everyone who books a PlayDays session will receive an exclusive 10% discount at Decathlon Ballymun, valid for one week before the event, during the event weekend and one week afterwards when presenting their booking confirmation in store. Terms and conditions apply.
Originally launched in the UK in 2024, Decathlon PlayDays has helped bring communities together through sport, with the Ballymun event marking the first one in Ireland.
