Decathlon helps Ireland get back into the Sporting Routine this September

The summer holidays are over, calendars are filling up again and the familiar September routine is making its return. But getting “back to it” doesn’t just have to mean work, school runs and packed schedules.
For adults across Ireland, September also offers the perfect opportunity to get back to the gym, return to weekly training, lace up for an evening run or reconnect with the teammates and training partners they may have seen a little less of over summer.
This September, Decathlon is encouraging adults to embrace the return to routine and make sport part of their autumn reset, whether that means picking up an old habit or finding a completely new way to get moving.

Get back into your rhythm:
After the looser schedules, holidays and longer evenings of summer, getting back into a fitness routine can feel daunting. But it doesn’t have to mean an overnight transformation. A first run after work, returning to a weekly gym session or getting the group chat going for five-a-side again can all help rebuild the habit.
Rather than focusing on quick fixes, the goal is to find a routine that works and, importantly, one you actually enjoy enough to keep doing.
Make it social:
For many adults, sport is about much more than exercise. Running clubs, team sports, group fitness sessions and training with friends combine movement with social connection, giving people an opportunity to switch off from the working day and reconnect with others.
Whether it’s the weekly five-a-side game, a Saturday morning run with friends or simply having a gym buddy who makes cancelling that little bit harder, adding a social element can make returning to sport something to look forward to.
Your autumn reset:
As evenings get shorter and routines become busier, sport can provide valuable time away from screens, emails and everyday demands. It doesn’t have to be about chasing a PB or committing to an intense new training programme. For some, progress might mean running further or lifting heavier. For others, it might simply mean moving consistently, clearing their head and feeling better afterwards.
Having reliable kit that suits your chosen activity can also make getting out the door easier, particularly as we move into cooler and less predictable autumn weather.
Orlaith Deegan, Campaigns Manager at Decathlon Ireland said:
“September naturally feels like a fresh start. As people return from summer holidays and settle back into their usual routines, it’s a great opportunity to make sport and movement part of that routine again.”
“For many adults, sport isn’t just about physical fitness. It can be time to switch off after work, meet friends, clear your head or simply do something that makes you feel good. The most important thing is finding an activity and a routine that works for you and that you can enjoy consistently.”
Whether it’s getting back to the gym, rejoining your running group or finally answering “yes” to that five-a-side message, September is the time to get back to it!
