International Day of Yoga is this Saturday 21st June and FLYEfit, Ireland’s premier gym chain, is spotlighting the powerful voice of one of its dedicated yoga instructors, Lorna Flannery, who believes yoga is not just a form of movement, but a form of natural medicine that supports the mind, body and spirit.

To celebrate the occasion, FLYEfit will be hosting a special 90-minute FREE class open to members and non-members alike at FLYEhub Swords and FLYEfit Galway this Saturday at 9am. The session will be led by instructor Lorna in Swords and Robyn in Galway, blending mindfulness and intention setting to welcome the new season after the summer solstice. FLYEfit Swords have also partnered with Irish-made Kombucha brand Synerchi to provide post-session refreshments.

With an expanding schedule of yoga classes across its gyms, including the trending heated yoga, FLYEfit is making this life-enhancing practice accessible and affordable to all.

Lorna believes the growing interest in yoga is no coincidence, stating “yoga has become increasingly popular because people are more aware of what's good for our mind, body and spirit”.

One of the standout styles offered at FLYEfit is Yin Yoga, known for its gentle, restorative approach. Yin invites practitioners to hold poses for 90 seconds or more, activating deep tissue fascia and naturally encouraging the body to produce collagen, supporting joint health and even slowing the aging process.

Alongside Yin and other yoga styles, FLYEfit offers heated yoga classes in their new Galway gym, which are growing in popularity. Hot Yoga is a dynamic, sweat-inducing class designed to improve flexibility, strength, and mindfulness. Practising yoga in a warm environment helps to loosen muscles more quickly, increase circulation, and enhance detoxification through sweat. It also supports flexibility and can elevate the mental focus of the practice.

When asked about the key benefits of yoga, Lorna explained that the practice goes far beyond just physical fitness. "Yoga is natural medicine” she said. "It’s therapy. It helps you ground yourself, connect with your higher intuition, and brings a sense of peace to the mind. Yoga prevents injuries and works on old injuries or just the wear and tear that naturally happens in our bodies”.

At the heart of FLYEfit’s yoga offerings is the strong belief that yoga is for everyone. As Lorna said, "Just arrive at your yoga practice with an open mind and a smile and prepare for your life to get better. Yoga is effortless effort. So enjoy every moment, and just inhale and exhale."

Orla Reddy, Head of Marketing at FLYEfit, said today “We’ve seen a significant increase in demand for yoga at FLYEfit, particularly for heated yoga classes which we will be rolling out across more of our locations over the coming months. More people are prioritising their well-being, and yoga offers something for everyone, whether it’s improved flexibility, stress relief or injury prevention. We're proud to offer affordable access to high-quality yoga classes across all our locations. International Day of Yoga is the perfect opportunity to encourage even more people to experience it for themselves”.

FLYEfit encourages everyone, from total beginners to seasoned yogis, to join in, especially on International Day of Yoga!
