Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women returns from Friday 30th January to Bank Holiday Monday 2nd February 2026, marking its fifth anniversary with a city-wide celebration of women’s voices, creativity and cultural expression inspired by the ancient Celtic goddess Brigit. As anticipation builds for the 2026 programme, the festival today reveals an early musical highlight, inviting audiences to experience two intimate headline concerts in the heart of the city.

Gemma Dunleavy and Muireann Bradley have been announced to headline Brigit x District, a two-night concert series programmed in partnership with District Magazine, taking place at Abbey Presbyterian Church across Friday 30 and Saturday 31 January 2026.
Opening the festival weekend on Friday 30 January, Gemma Dunleavy will deliver a rare headline performance in Dublin. Since the release of UP DE FLATS in 2020, she has largely stepped back from releasing music, focusing instead on refining her sound behind the scenes. Her return for Brigit feels timely. Rooted in stories of working-class Dublin and shaped by her upbringing in Sheriff Street, her club-pop songs balance emotional clarity with sharp, understated production. Set within the intimate surroundings of Abbey Presbyterian Church, this performance offers a focused live moment to mark the beginning of Brigit 2026. On Saturday 31 January, Brigit x District continues with Muireann Bradley, one of the most distinctive young voices emerging from Ireland’s folk and blues tradition. An 18-year-old singer and guitarist from Ballybofey, County Donegal, she specialises in acoustic fingerpicking styles drawn from early country, Piedmont and ragtime blues. Her debut album I Kept These Old Blues brought this tradition to new audiences, earning widespread attention for its clarity, restraint and deep respect for the form. Rooted in craft and careful listening, her performance offers a rare opportunity to experience an artist honouring musical inheritance while confidently shaping its future. Initiated by the Lord Mayor’s Office and supported by Dublin City Council, Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women marks Imbolc with a programme rooted in ancient tradition and reimagined for today. Brigit 2026 will once again animate Dublin through performances, talks, workshops and large-scale cultural moments across the city. Tickets for both concerts are priced at €20 early bird and €30 general admission.
Presented in partnership with District Magazine.
