German Doner Kebab (GDK), the globally acclaimed quick service restaurant (QRS) brand known for its innovative menu and redefinition of the kebab experience, today announces it is opening its first restaurant in Ireland.

The first location will open at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre at the end of November 2025, marking the beginning of a nationwide expansion that will see the opening of up to 30 stores across Ireland within the next decade. The Strava Group, fronted by experienced QSR Owner/Operator, Rickey Sharma, operates the Master Franchise and leads the GDK growth strategy in Ireland. The initial impact will generate 30 roles in Liffey Valley, and up to a further five stores and up to 150 roles across Ireland within the next year.
GDK’s mission is to redefine the kebab experience, whilst building an exciting Gen-Z focussed brand rooted in music, sport, and popular culture. To deliver this mission, GDK has developed an extensive menu of fresh-to-order products featuring premium lean meats, unique toasted waffle bread, and handmade signature sauces; all of which cater in thematics, and ingredients, to the growing health and convenience conscious target demographic.
In recent years, GDK has taken its Kebabs. Done Right. mission to the world, allowing consumers to enjoy a premium, authentic, and culturally relevant doner kebab experience. As of July 2025, there are over 170 GDK restaurants throughout the UK, Sweden, North America, and the Middle East; all backed by its primary investor, True and Hero Brands. Today’s announcement comes as GDK celebrates the opening of its 150th UK restaurant in Leeds later this month, marking a milestone in its decade of rapid expansion.
Simon Wallis, CEO, German Doner Kebab, says:
“At German Doner Kebab, our vision is to dominate the kebab category across Ireland and the world, in every neighbourhood - one kebab, done right, at a time. We value working with franchise partners who share and believe in our purpose to elevate the kebab experience. The Strava Group is already a successful partner in England and Scotland, with a deep understanding of the business operations. We look forward to continuing to work closely with them to fulfil the potential of the brand in Ireland.”
Rickey Sharma, Director of the Strava Group, says:
“German Doner Kebab is rewriting the rules of the kebab experience worldwide, and Ireland is the next chapter in that story. We see tremendous potential in introducing our fresh, premium, and innovative approach to the Irish market, and we’re confident it will resonate with a new generation of customers. Our mission is to deliver the same high-quality food, distinctive style, and cultural connections that have made GDK a global success. Liffey Valley will be the launchpad for what we believe will be a strong and sustained nationwide presence.”
From late November, the Liffey Valley restaurant is set to feature GDK’s signature modern design, blending sleek, urban interiors with a welcoming atmosphere, and offering dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options to cater to all customer needs.
