Killarney’s First Whiskey Parlour Experience, Pig’s Lane Whiskey Parlour, a Rare Find with 230+ Rare Bottles available for tasting

Discover Killarney’s best-kept secret with the newly opened whiskey parlour in the town’s first underground bar, Pig’s Lane. The Pig’s Lane Whiskey Parlour brings connoisseurs of all levels on an exceptional and immersive whiskey-tasting journey, featuring over 230 of the most renowned and rarest bottles from around the world.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, guests will be whisked away by a 'secret door effect' upon entering, and step into a clandestine speakeasy, reminiscent of the prohibition era. From the 1840’s tiger oak paneling in the snug, to the Dunvilles & Jameson original hand-crafted mirrors and the 60’s lighting replicating antique whiskey glasses, each design detail has been thought through to enhance the whiskey-tasting experience.

The curated menu focuses on Irish Whiskey with a nod to fine scotches and bourbons. There are over 230 whiskeys on offer, with many rare and unique bottles sourced from the best producers and collectors internationally. Producers from Scotland, the US and Japan are represented with an impressive collection that is ever-growing and evolving.

Connoisseurs can enjoy some of the more well-known names, or savour some rare and much sought-after releases. The team, immersed in the rich cultural heritage and craft of whiskey making, is keen to share their wealth of knowledge and advise patrons on selecting the perfect blend for their palette.

Top shelf offerings include Knappogue Castle 1951, Midleton 25YR Old Single Pot Still, Redbreast 30YR Old Dream Cast, Dungourney - 1964 and Springbank 8YR old. The Pig's Lane whiskey selection not only showcases worldwide excellence but also cherishes the essence and allure of local artistry, paying homage to the devoted distillers, keeping their proud Kerry roots grounded and alive. They have partnered with local Wayward Spirits distillery, who have crafted the ‘The Liberator’ whiskey, a nod to the family’s ancestral heritage with Daniel O’Connell, to showcase new and exciting whiskey blends with rich flavours and enticing aromas.

Patrons can pair their tasting with light bites from their distinct food menu which features perfect palette pairings including Irish Cheese Boards, Charcuterie Boards, and enticing small meat and vegetarian plates. Combining the freshest of ingredients sourced from local and Irish suppliers, along with the group’s own Killarney Urban Farm located right next door, these tempting sidekicks provide the perfect accompaniment to the range of whiskeys on offer. Additionally, Pig's Lane offers a selection of premier James J. Fox cigars.

Ariel Sanecki, Drinks Development Manager for the O’Donoghue Ring Collection and Pig’s Lane says, “We are so proud to introduce our Whiskey Parlour to Pig’s Lane and the wider town of Killarney. We’ve worked hard to create an experience that can be enjoyed both by whiskey novices and connoisseurs while paying homage to our distinct roots through our interiors. Our menu represents the very best distillers across the globe and our collection is ever-expanding. We are always looking for new, quality producers to add to our display, so that we can enhance our offering and create a truly unparalleled whiskey tasting experience for our customers”

The underground venue, the first of its kind in Kerry, has been developed by the innovative and sustainably-minded family-run team behind the award-winning Café du Parc, The Tan Yard and O’Donoghue Public House – the O’Donoghue Ring Collection. The name ‘Pig’s Lane’ is a nod to the former name of the original site on which the new bar now stands. From the early 1800’s, Pig’s Lane ran from College Street to Railway Road.

The Whiskey Parlour is open 7 days a week and is available on a walk-in basis. It can be exclusively reserved for private events and celebrations for up to 30 people. The team is working on exciting plans for the coming months, including expanding their whiskey offering with rare and exciting blends and hosting several exclusive tasting events.
