New clothing brand ThreefiveThree celebrated a blockbuster launch last night, after months of anticipation and expectation.

Named, of course, after Ireland’s international dialling code (+353), the streetwear company released its first capsule last night – selling through 90% of stock immediately, as the months-long waitlist snapped up the brand’s first items.

Every item includes the message “more blacks, more dogs, more Irish” on its label. The firm’s next capsule will be available in early November, with the online waitlist now open.

Headquartered in the border town of Strabane in County Tyrone, ThreefiveThree has been established to mirror modern Irish identity.

Founder and CEO Kevin Traynor, formerly a drummer with cult band The Divine Comedy, said: “The Irish government estimates that 70 million people globally have Irish ancestry – and they’re all incredibly passionate about that identity. Right now, we’re seeing a massive resurgence in Irish culture, and a new-found confidence for Irish people to express that. The country’s having a moment."

“Modern Irishness is not defined by religion or politics, or by borders – and ThreefiveThree is about celebrating what we have in common: our shared heritage, culture, and identity."

“Rebelliousness, the love of the craic, the anti-establishment spirit, the sarcasm and self-effacing jokes. That belongs to all of us. That’s the ThreefiveThree spirit.”

Part of the company’s celebration of Irishness is to support Irish language schools around the world. Its founding charity partners, who will each receive a share of profits, are:

Gaelscoil Uì Dhochartaigh, in Strabane – funded by the local community for over 40 years and where students can earn an Irish GCSE by the age of 11.

Scoil na Seolta, the first Irish language school in East Belfast, founded by Linda Ervine, the sister-in-law of David Ervine, the former PUP leader.

ThreefiveThree will also plant a native tree in Ireland for every order received in partnership with Reforest Nation.
