Powerscourt Distillery to Feature in Catherine Fulvio’s Christmas TV Show

The Powerscourt Distillery team were delighted to welcome chef Catherine Fulvio to their home to film a very special segment for her Catherine Celebrates Christmas RTÉ 1 TV show which will air at 7pm on Tuesday 21st December.

Catherine visited Powerscourt Distillery, where she met Gerry Ginty, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, who brings us on a tour of the distillery and tells us how it all began. Catherine then met in-house Food Historian and Food and Beverage specialist Santina Kennedy. Santina guided her on different flavours that are enhanced by having with different types of Whiskey from the Powerscourt Distillery.

Following her class in all things whiskey Catherine will show viewers how to create ‘Christmas in a glass’ with an Irish Manhattan Cocktail and a Manhattan Mocktail. Santina Kennedy holds an MA in Gastronomy and Food Studies from TU Dublin. She has drawn on her research into Irish food and beverage culture and on her years of experience running her own award-winning Irish food business to create amazing food pairings.

As a champion of local and Irish food producers, Santina has perfectly matched the 8-year-old, 10-year-old and 14-year-old awardwinning Fercullen whiskeys with some of the most delicious food pairings. Caroline Gardiner, Marketing Manager of Powerscourt Distillery, said, “Catherine is such a wonderful ambassador for the quality of Ireland’s Food & Drinks producers and epitomises the hospitality Ireland is famous for. We were delighted to be chosen by Catherine to be featured in her very popular annual “Celebrates Catherine” show.

Santina Kennedy of Powerscourt Distillery said of the experience, "We were so pleased when Catherine asked us to participate in her now-iconic “Celebrates Christmas” RTÉ show. Being showcased as part of the wonderful food and drinks experience Co. Wicklow has to offer is integral to what we are about at Powerscourt Distillery. As the in-house Food & Beverage specialist and Food Historian with a passion for Irish food history and hospitality, I could have chatted with Catherine all day as another champion of the county's produce. We have been thrilled with the positive reaction to our Whiskey tasting & food pairing, where I have endeavoured to use all local produce to highlight the flavour profile of our Award-winning Fercullen whiskeys.”
