Something different for Christmas from Irish National Opera

Stuck for a Christmas present that’s a bit different, avidly entertaining, and uniquely Irish?

The gift of high-drama, romance, and passion, combined with spine-tingling musical performance is presented by Irish National Opera.

Opera tickets, individual Irish National Opera memberships, and corporate gift opportunity or partnerships can help wrap-up a gifting dilemma

Highlights of the 2024 INO programme include Salome, based on Oscar Wilde’s play, in March.

This royal, ‘Succession-like’ power struggle has lust and death at every turn, with a guilt tortured king, a condemned prophet, and the wild and wilful Salome.

Stunning Wexford soprano Sinéad Campbell-Wallace sings the title role in this new full production, directed by Bruno Ravella, at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin from 12th to 16th March, 2024. In addition, INO will present a concert performance of Richard Strauss’s thrilling and passionate Salome score, at Wexford National Opera House on 3rd March, with the Irish National Opera Orchestra conducted by artistic director, Fergus Sheil.

Tickets are available online at irishnationalopera.ie or from the venues.

La traviata, another unmissable opera classic, charts the moving tale of Violetta, a high-spirited, popular courtesan, and Alfredo, her devoted but naive lover. The rural bliss they find together is shattered by fear of scandal, and when their love is reasserted, she is sadly on her deathbed.

Tickets, which make an original stocking filler, are on sale now for eight performances of La traviata, between May 17th and 31st. Theatres include Wexford National Opera House, The Gaiety Theatre Dublin, and Cork Opera House.

For the opera buff or enthusiastic novice, membership of Irish National Opera unlocks exclusive behind-the-scenes events, including backstage tours, masterclasses with renowned singers, INO Opera Studio performances, and artist receptions.

Gift memberships are available, to reward clients or colleagues, and come with the satisfaction of helping Irish National Opera widen Ireland’s access to opera, and provide professional development to Ireland’s most talented singers.

INO Development Manager Aoife Daly (aoife@irishnationalopera.ie +353 (0)85 2603721) has more detail on becoming part of the Irish National Opera family, as a private member or corporate associate.

"If someone has never experienced live opera, gifting tickets opens-up a whole new world of entertainment for them, and the surprise of how relatable and enjoyable it is", Aoife Daly says.

Apart from the high drama, singing and acting qualities of a performance, opera presents timeless classic stories, full of recognisable people and situations, as well as fresh insights on contemporary issues.

Detail of all tickets and corporate gift options are available from the Irish National Opera website at irishnationalopera.ie
