A highly accomplished multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Tara Howley is renowned for her extraordinary ability to play 14 instruments and for her achievements as a multiple All-Ireland champion. On June 5th in Whelan’s, audiences can look forward to her performing on tin whistle, concertina, fiddle, uilleann pipes, harmonica, and banjo, alongside her signature lilting style. Originally from Kilfenora, Co. Clare, Tara comes from a strong musical background. Her father, Padraig Howley, is a respected traditional musician and a member of her band, reflecting the strong family tradition behind her music. Joining Tara on the night will be special guest performers, adding even more energy and variety to what promises to be a standout evening of live music.

Tara has spent seven years touring internationally as lead uilleann piper with Riverdance and has recently performed with Celtic Woman on their symphony tour, appearing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. She has also shared stages and collaborated with celebrated artists including Nathan Carter, Sharon Shannon, Steve Cooney and Bill Whelan.


Her career has brought her to iconic venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Dublin’s 3Arena, while her distinctive sound has featured alongside both the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra.


With over 450,000 followers online and more than 20 million views across social media platforms, Tara has built a strong international audience, and her live show continues to captivate fans with its vibrant mix of Irish traditional tunes, lilting, ballads and well-known folk songs. Having previously headlined Whelan’s main stage in 2023, Tara returns for a full band performance that is not to be missed. 

Speaking of the upcoming gig, Tara said, “I can’t wait to be back on stage in Whelan’s, its going to be a great night and I only hope my dad behaves himself!”
