On Friday, Fleetwood Paints ambassador and founder of Shabby.ie Aileen Hogan and RTÉ 2FM presenter and sustainable living influencer Fionnuala Moran announced Slav Lesniowski from Ballina, Co. Mayo as the winner, where he took home a €500 Fleetwood Paints voucher enjoyed a luxurious two-night getaway at the Leonardo Hotel Dublin Christchurch over the weekend, complete with dinner on an evening of his choice.
Slav impressed the judges with his meticulous makeover of an old wardrobe, using Fleetwood Paints in the shade ‘Eden’s Way’ (Advanced satin finish), beginning with a full clean, sanding, and undercoat, before applying two coats of satin paint. He added stunning gold leaf detail and decorative stickers, finishing with a varnish for long-lasting durability. The result is a refined and contemporary piece that beautifully blends creativity with craftsmanship.
Speaking about the challenge, Aileen Hogan said: “For the Fleetwood Paints Challenge, we're not just looking at what has been created, but what potential has been unlocked. Slav’s work is a testament to the power of upcycling when done with skill and imagination.”
Fionnuala Moran added: “It’s amazing to see how much creativity and love people pour into these pieces. Slav’s wardrobe stood out for its elegance and attention to detail, it's the kind of transformation that truly inspires others to try upcycling for themselves.”
Theresa Smith took home second prize for her smart transformation of an open-plan space into a cosy living room. She built a removable partition wall, added panelling and a bespoke bookcase, finishing it all in Vogue ‘Old Fashioned’ for a warm, timeless feel. Theresa will receive a Fleetwood Paints hamper filled with paint and accessories to fuel her next DIY project.
