Over 27,000 homeowners, movers and improvers descended onto the RDS Simmonscourt over the weekend for the PTSB Ideal Home Show to visit over 230 exhibitors, bringing the best of Ireland’s home improvement professionals and suppliers under one roof to showcase the latest innovations in home renovations.

One of the weekend’s standout features was the return of the Prestige by Fleetwood Home Revival Challenge. Now in its third year, the competition invited DIY and upcycling enthusiasts from across the country to give new life to pre-loved pieces of furniture using Prestige by Fleetwood Paints. This year, the competition opened up to allow entrants to flaunt their skills by submitting a whole room makeover to be in with the chance to win.
On Friday, Prestige by Fleetwood ambassador and founder of Shabby.ie Aileen Hogan and TV and radio presenter and sustainable living influencer Fionnuala Moran announced Lisa McGraynor as the winner, where she took home a €500 Prestige by Fleetwood voucher and a city break of a two night getaway at any of the five Leonardo Hotel locations across Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast.

Lisa set out to transform her nursery into a warm and stylish space ahead of the arrival of her baby girl, Mia, choosing Prestige by Fleetwood Lerici in Multi Surface Matt to bring her vision to life. After sampling the shade from her local Albany store in Westport, she discovered the perfect dusty pink, rich in character and charm. The colour lifted the room instantly, popping beautifully against the walnut cot and creating a soft yet striking finish that perfectly captured the look and feel she had imagined.
Speaking about the winning entry, Aileen Hogan said: “Year three of the Prestige by Fleetwood Home Revival Challenge felt like a real step up for the challenge, especially bringing full room makeovers into the mix, and Lisa absolutely nailed it. The nursery is beautifully done, it’s warm, stylish and every element just works.”
Fionnuala Moran added: “Opening it up this year made it so exciting, the level was so impressive, but Lisa’s just had that spark. It’s such a lovely, well thought out space and you can tell a lot of care went into it.”
Aileen Egan took second place with a thoughtful transformation of a bedroom in her mother’s historic home in Ballinahown, Athlone. Working within the original features of the 1820s house, she balanced old and new by retaining elements like the shutters and curtains while refreshing the space using Prestige by Fleetwood. Inspired by the Roisin Lafferty collection, she embraced a colour drenching approach to tie together repurposed furniture and her chosen palette, creating a warm and cohesive room that blends heritage with her own style. Aileen will receive a Prestige by Fleetwood hamper filled with paint and accessories to fuel her next DIY project.

The spring PTSB Ideal Home Show offered visitors far more than just inspiration, with a packed schedule of expert talks, live demonstrations and interactive features across the venue. Attendees heard from leading voices across the industry, including architect Dermot Bannon who joined Mitsubishi Electric experts for a live Q&A, alongside appearances from Jo Linehan, Fionnuala Moran and QS Patricia Power at the DFS Interiors Theatre, offering practical advice and fresh perspectives on home design and renovation.
The Dunnes Stores Chefs Live Theatre was a major draw across the weekend, featuring live cooking demonstrations from well-known chefs including Neven Maguire, Donal Skehan and Brian McDermott, whilst Francis Brennan and William Costelloe, creative director of Paul Costelloe, met guests at their bespoke room sets, offering plenty of interiors inspiration for this season. Visitors also had the chance to meet Simply Better producers and sample the range of artisan foods at the Simply Better Craft Skills theatre, a new addition to this season’s show.

Innovation and sustainability were key themes throughout the show, with dedicated spaces guiding homeowners through the latest in retrofit supports, smart technology and energy efficient living. Visitors explored connected home solutions in The Smarter Home area, while popular features such as the Electric Ireland Superhomes Home Energy Upgrade Pavilion and the PhoneWatch Ask an Expert Hub delivered expert insights, helping attendees plan smarter, more efficient homes with confidence.
