A new chapter has opened beneath the Georgian surrounds of Powerscourt House, South William Street, with the arrival of The Stapleton Pub a relaxed, no-fuss addition to Dublin’s bar scene, and the latest evolution of The Stapleton.

Set across three levels, The Stapleton has quickly established itself as a welcoming, thoughtfully relaxed space in the heart of the city. With the opening of its lower ground pub, the venue now leans fully into what it does best, offering a proper Dublin bar experience, built around good drinks, easy company, and a strong sense of place.

Tucked below the main bar, The Stapleton Pub is designed for slowing down and settling in. More traditional in feel, the space is low-lit and intimate, with a cosy, considered layout and a natural ease that invites guests to stay a while. It’s the kind of spot you drop into for one and end up lingering longer, whether catching up with friends or simply taking a moment out from the pace upstairs.

There’s no ceremony here and that’s exactly the point. Guinness is poured as it should be, alongside beers on tap, including Heineken and Asahi, with a straightforward selection of spirits and a few classic serves for those in the mood. The focus is on quality and consistency, rather than excess, a well-kept bar that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Throughout the pub, a series of snugs offer cosy corners to settle into, all deliberately kept non-bookable. Tucked just behind the bar, a more discreet snug has already begun to spark curiosity,  adding a quiet sense of intrigue for those in the know, with a nod to regulars.

Adding to the atmosphere, live music will feature weekly, with sessions planned for Thursdays and Sundays, bringing a gentle rhythm to the space without overwhelming its laid-back character.

The pub can be accessed via its own external entrance, guiding guests down to the basement level, while also connecting internally to the main bar above, creating a natural flow between the spaces while allowing each to retain its own distinct feel.

The Stapleton takes inspiration from Michael Stapleton, a master craftsman of Georgian Dublin, reflected subtly through the building’s original details and thoughtful design. Above the pub, the venue unfolds into two further spaces: the lively, walk-in Main Bar at street level, and The Lounge upstairs a softer, more considered setting for cocktails and conversation.

Together, the three floors offer something for every mood, but it’s the newly opened pub that captures the essence of the experience, simple, familiar, and quietly confident.

As General Manager David Young puts it: “We wanted to create a space that feels genuinely easy, somewhere people can come in, get a great pint, and feel comfortable straight away. There’s no pressure to it. It’s just about doing the basics properly and letting people enjoy themselves.”

Current opening hours are as follows (subject to change):
