Aldi and Blackwater Distillery are toasting for not one, but two reasons this month, as the international retailer and Waterford based distillery celebrate five years in business together this week, with Boyle’s Gin also celebrating it's 5th birthday this month.
Exclusive to Aldi, Boyle’s Gin has been internationally recognised over the last five years, having recently been awarded a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021, securing its place as one of the best gins in the world!
Speaking about the business’ journey with Aldi over the last five years, Peter Mulryan, CEO of Blackwater Distillery said; “Our journey with Aldi began in 2016 when we first designed Boyle’s Gin, a wonderfully refreshing gin which features the local botanicals of West Waterford. Just before our gin was due to launch in Aldi, Boyle’s Gin won Best Irish Gin at the Irish Whiskey Awards in 2016, and ever since then we’ve been blown away by the reception the gin has received from consumers.
While Boyle’s Gin has continued to collect major international awards and now boasts the title of the Best Irish Classic Gin in the World, the icing on the cake came in 2021 when Boyle’s Gin landed the top prize, a double gold, at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
