A recent survey revealed people are drinking more coffee since lockdown!
The Survey which was carried out by Currys PC World (via SurveyMonkey.com) has shown that 84% of people are drinking more coffee since lockdown! 77% said they have cut back on take away coffee, and are now making theirs at home. 60% of people have bought or upgraded their coffee machine since lockdown. One third of Irish people also now have more than one coffee machine at home, and Amy Huberman is the Irish celebrity most people would like to make them a coffee in their home!

Cappuccino came out on top (29%) as the favourite coffee to be made at home, followed by
Black Coffee/Americano (28%),
Latté (17%),
White Coffee (12%),
Flat White (6%),
Mocha (4%)
and Espresso (4%).
57% of people have their coffee first thing in the morning to wake themselves up, with less than 1% drinking coffee at dinner time. 81% of people will drink their coffee all before 11am in the morning. With this in mind, Currys PC World in association with Sage Appliances announced today the launch of their Home Barista of the Year Competition, looking for Ireland’s best, self-taught, Home Barista!
This competition aims to find the Home Barista in Ireland who can show their passion for making their home brewed coffee. The survey also revealed: 60% of people have bought or upgraded their coffee machine since lockdown with the most popular one bought being a Pod Machine (39%), followed by Bean to Cup (31%), the rest were various.
74% of people drink their coffee at home in a regular mug, 22% drink from a KeepCup or similar, and 4% chose “other”.
76% of people have a preferred coffee brand.
65% of people drink coffee a few times a day, 25% drink it once a day, 8% drink it a few times a week and 2% rarely.

Coconut – 6%
Almond – 4%

Freshly Brewed Coffee
20ml Spiced Stout Syrup* (can be substituted with Demerara Syrup or with Brown Sugar & Water)
Fresh Cream Garnish: Freshly Grated Nutmeg (if you have it!) Suggested Glassware: Hot Drinks Glass
Method: Preheat glass with some warm water and discard, add the Teeling Whiskey, stout syrup, brewed coffee and stir to combine.Warm a large spoon and gently pour the cream over the back of the spoon and onto the coffee. Garnish with a light dusting of grated nutmeg and enjoy with friends!
