Portmarnock County Dublin, home to ‘The Velvet Strand’, one of Ireland’s most stunning stretches of uninterrupted coastline.
Located across the road from the beautiful Velvet Strand, on the grounds of White Sands Hotel in Portmarnock is Fireman Sands, a fantastically innovative Ice-Cream/Coffee truck.
This repurposed Fire Truck was the brainchild of Mary Murphy (General Manager) and John Harmon (Owner) of the White Sands Hotel.
Food and coffee culture has really come into it’s own during lockdown and many Hotels and Restaurants have had to think outside the box.
We're all kids at heart, and who doesn’t love and remember the excitement of ice-cream sundaes, 99's, big red fire engines and a day at the beach…. with that in mind, the Team at the White Sands Hotel got their creative thinking hats on and the adventure began.
The fire truck started it’s life in Kilbeggan Co. Westmeath opposite Kilbeggan Whiskey Distillery. After many years of service, it went into retirement and now almost at that vintage age, Fireman Sands is still serving the community but in a more relaxed, happier, fun and stress free environment!
Fireman Sands was an ‘all hands on truck’ affair being refurbished by Jake, Andy & Harry. Designed, kitted out and extended by their sister company Air Force Stainless Steel and wrapped by Glenn Trout Signs while retaining a lot of its original features (shutters, ladders, siren and it’s overall fire truck feeling) in compliance with HSE regulations.
Bringing you the Hottest Ice-Cream, the Coolest Coffee, the friendliest service and the flamin’ trendiest uniforms with attention to detail.
Fireman Sands' menu has something for everyone. The Ice-Cream Sundaes are almost too hot to handle, available in 5oz & 12oz Tubs. Some of the flavours include.. Mini Rolo, Kinder Bueno, Unicorn Dream, Lotus Biscoff, Lemon Meringue, Crunchie, Oreo, Rocky Road & Brownie.
A range of cones are also available, along with cookies, chocolate bars & snacks. Fireman Sands also provide Gourmet hot savouries, tasty Ciabattas, Baked Croissants and a range of healthy options sourced from local small batch artisan producers, along side the top brand names of Angelitios Ice-Cream and Lavazza coffee.
All of your hot beverage needs are covered too with a range of coffees, teas & amazing hot chocolate. Shakes will also be on the menu in the not too distant future.
With this impressive Treats menu, Fireman Sands is a must visit when you're by the sea this summer.
