As more people look for healthier grab-and-go snacks that don’t taste like cardboard, homemade energy bars are having a serious moment — and this recipe from Linwoods ticks a lot of boxes.

These Plant Fibre Rich Energy Bars are packed with fibre, healthy fats and plant-based protein thanks to a mix of seeds, nuts, tahini and dark chocolate. They’re naturally vegan, refined sugar free and ideal for meal prep, lunchboxes or a quick post-work snack when you’re trying to avoid ultra-processed alternatives.

What makes these bars stand out is the inclusion of Linwoods’ Flaxseed, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Walnuts & CoQ10 blend, alongside hemp, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. The combination delivers plenty of texture while also adding nutrients linked to sustained energy and overall wellbeing.

The best part? There’s no baking involved.

Plant Fibre Rich Energy Bars

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Servings: 9 bars

Ingredients

  • 250g pitted Medjool dates

  • 80g pumpkin seeds

  • 80g sunflower seeds

  • 60g Linwoods Flaxseed, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Walnuts & CoQ10

  • 80g hemp seeds

  • 60g tahini

  • 2–3 tbsp water

  • 100g dark chocolate (70–85%), melted for topping

Method

  1. Blend all ingredients together in a food processor.

  2. Transfer the mixture into a lined 2lb loaf tin.

  3. Press down evenly using your hands or the back of a spoon.

  4. Pour over the melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with extra seeds if desired.

  5. Refrigerate for one hour before slicing into bars.

Store in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.

Serving Tips

  • Slice into bars or smaller squares depending on your preference.

  • Keep chilled for a firmer texture, or allow to soften slightly before eating.

  • Ideal for preparing ahead and storing for the week or freezing for later.

Why Homemade Energy Bars Are Becoming More Popular

There’s been a noticeable shift toward simple homemade snacks using recognisable ingredients instead of long lists of additives and preservatives. Recipes like this appeal to people who want something filling and convenient without relying on heavily processed protein bars.

Dates provide natural sweetness and help bind everything together, while tahini adds creaminess and healthy fats. Pumpkin and sunflower seeds bring crunch and fibre, and dark chocolate gives the bars a proper treat-yourself finish without going overboard.

They’re also easy to customise. You could add cinnamon, chopped dried fruit, coconut flakes or even a pinch of sea salt depending on your taste.

For busy parents, gym-goers or anyone trying to snack a bit smarter, these are the kind of recipes worth keeping in the fridge.
