Step Into the Story: Conrad Dublin Marks 300 Years of Gulliver’s Travels

This October marks 300 years since the publication of Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels,
and Conrad Dublin is celebrating the milestone by inviting guests to step into the world of
Lemuel Gulliver through its Gulliver’s Travels-inspired offerings at Lemuel’s Lounge & Cocktail Bar.
Conrad Dublin is a five-star hotel on Earlsfort Terrace, just at the corner of St. Stephen’s
Green, recognised with a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating. The hotel is also located close to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where Dublin-born author Jonathan Swift is buried, providing a meaningful connection to the literary heritage behind Gulliver’s Travels.
Lemuel’s Lounge & Cocktail Bar, named after Swift’s famous traveller, Lemuel Gulliver, brings this story to life through a distinctive bar and lounge setting inspired by his extraordinary journeys. Its striking brass ceiling, etched with a map of his voyages, creates a standout visual feature that celebrates exploration, storytelling and discovery.

Guests can savour the spirit of the novel through Lemuel’s Gulliver’s Travels-inspired Afternoon Tea, where fantastical destinations from the story are brought to life through a selection of beautifully crafted sweet and savoury creations.
Sweet offerings include a delicate Battenberg Cake with apricot jam inspired by Lilliput, a
rich Domori Chocolate & Caramel Mousse reflecting the grandeur of Brobdingnag, buttery shortbread with strawberry jam inspired by the Houyhnhnms, and a light White Chocolate
Cake with whipped ganache inspired by the floating island of Laputa.
Savoury favourites include Chicken Saffron Mayo on brioche, Irish Smoked Salmon on
traditional brown soda bread, Rosemary Ham and Brie with Ballymaloe relish, and Truffle Egg Mayo savoury mille-feuille tart. A thoughtfully curated vegetarian menu is
also available.
As evening falls, the story moves to the bar with A Taste of Travels, Lemuel’s new cocktail
menu inspired by Gulliver’s four voyages. Each serve takes its cue from one of Swift’s
imagined worlds, from 1699, a rich, spiced rum cocktail inspired by Gulliver’s shipwreck in
Lilliput, to 1706, a bold Irish whiskey serve reflecting his journey among the giants of
Brobdingnag. A Taste of Travels is available now, with cocktails priced from €16 and non-
alcoholic options from €12.
Served daily from 12pm to 4pm, Afternoon Tea at Lemuel’s is accompanied by a selection of premium teas and coffees, with the option to elevate the occasion with a glass of champagne.
Whether enjoying Afternoon Tea or settling in for an evening cocktail, Lemuel’s Lounge & Cocktail Bar offers a chance to celebrate 300 years of Gulliver’s Travels while discovering a little literary history in the heart of Dublin.
Lemuel’s Bar is open daily from 8:30am to 12:30am. Bookings can be made directly at
