The Dubliner Irish Whiskey launch Smoked Stout Beer Cask Edition

The Dubliner Irish Whiskey has collaborated with one of Ireland’s leading craft brewers to create the second batch of The Dubliner Whiskey Beer Cask Series, an exciting, limited edition range, whereby the award-winning Dubliner Irish Whiskey is aged in beer casks, and craft beers in whiskey casks.

The Dubliner Irish Whiskey partnered with fellow Dublin neighbour and independent Irish craft brewer, Rascal’s Brewing Company, to produce a cheeky coupling of Dubliner 3yo blend with Rascals Smoked Stout casks, making for a whiskey packed with personality.

This latest collaboration saw the award-winning Dubliner Irish Whiskey share their ex-bourbon whiskey casks with fellow Dublin neighbour and independent Irish craft brewer, Rascal’s Brewing Co with whiskey casks which were filled with their high quality, unfiltered and unpasteurised beer, and after a few months of finishing, the beer was bottled with the Distillery taking the casks back and refilling them with The Dubliner Irish Whiskey. The result is a whiskey with all the delectability of freshly baked oat cookies, honeyed sweetness and fresh cinnamon spice followed by long bitter maltiness.

Such was the success of the series that Rascal’s ‘Big Smoke’ whiskey-finished smoked stout sold out on release. Further releases with Rascal’s are planned in the coming months. Keep an eye on Dubliners Instagram for all the updates.

“We are excited to launch the Dubliner Smoked Stout Irish Whiskey in Ireland. This is the latest in our flavour work on the brand. Dubliner Irish Whiskey is committed to making Whiskey accessible for anyone to try. Big on flavour, it is sure to appeal to Whiskey and Beer drinkers alike.” Bronagh Hunt, Global Brand Director, Irish Whiskies.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Big and malty with freshly baked oat cookies, soft smoke and chocolate. Palate: Toast and honey, apricot jam and then cinnamon stick spices. Finish: Long bitter maltiness from the stout finish, followed by oak tannins and liquorice allsorts.

A savage 3-year-old blend with big creamy maltiness and subtle toasty smokiness from being finished in Rascals Smoked Stout casks. The result is a whiskey with all the delectability of freshly baked oat cookies, honeyed sweetness and fresh cinnamon spice followed by long bitter maltiness.

Best enjoyed straight up with just a drop of water to release the aromas.

You can find it on theDLD.com. There are only 1,926 bottles of this whiskey available in the Irish market though, so act fast!
