The Family Area returns to the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show with Five Days of Family Fun

The Gallagher Dublin Horse Show returns to the RDS from 5th-9th August, combing sport, style and socialising in the heart of Dublin City. One of the highlights of this year's Show is the newly reimagined and renamed family area. Little Riders will be packed with activities, entertainment and hands-on fun for children and families. Located on grounds of the Grand Hall behind the Grandstand, Little Riders is a vibrant space where young visitors can play, create and take a break from the excitement of the Show.

Children can tackle the Hobby Horse Obstacle Course, create their own lucky horseshoe, enjoy face painting, glitter tattoos and colourful hair braiding or unwind in the dedicated sensory and chill-out area, designed to give visitors of all ages a space to take break from the action.

Defender once again brings the Mini Defender Driving Experience to Little Riders. The bespoke attraction gives young drivers the chance to get behind the wheel and navigate a specially designed course in miniature Defender vehicles, combining adventure with fun in a safe and engaging environment.

In Ring 2, visitors can experience Positive Strides, where Festina Lente will bring its beloved Shetland ponies, equine therapy demonstrations and inspiring panel discussions showcasing the positive impact of horses beyond the sport. Discover how equine assisted learning and therapeutic services help build confidence, develop life skills and support the wellbeing of children and adults across Ireland. The Festina Lente Shetland ponies will once again be stabled in the family area, giving children the opportunity to pet and brush these little equine stars. 

One of this year's exciting new additions, the Shetland Pony Grand National, sponsored by Carr & Day & Martin, brings a thrilling mix of speed, skill and family entertainment to the Gallagher Dublin Horse Show. Taking place throughout the week in both the Laya Arena and EOS IT Solutions Arena, the action sees fearless young riders and their Shetland ponies race around a Grand National-style course, with legendary jockey and Grand National winner Bob Champion joining the team throughout the Show.

And finally, the hair raising Pony Club Games will be back in Ring 1 at the weekend, where pony and rider show their skill and speed across a number of high octane games.
