To recognise World Autism Awareness Day on Sunday, 2nd April, Lidl Ireland will be stocking autism-friendly ‘Kid’s Ear Defenders’ across all stores nationwide from Thursday 30th March 2023.

These lightweight ear defenders priced at €11.99 are suitable for ages 6-14 years and can be used for travelling, learning, or to avoid disturbances caused in noisy environments.

Product details include:

• Noise reduction - by SNR 29Db

• Fold for easy storage

• Adjustable headband, grows with your child

• Suitable for ages 6 – 14 years

• Lightweight with soft cushions for extra comfort

• 3-year warranty

Alongside it’s product offering, Lidl Ireland commits to supporting members of the autism community with its in-store initiatives such as welcoming JAM Card holders on a daily basis and hosting Autism Aware Evenings. The JAM Card allows people with a learning difficulty, autism or communication barrier to tell others they need ‘Just A Minute’ (JAM) discreetly and easily in customer service situations.

Additionally, Autism Aware Evenings take pace every Tuesday between 6-8pm and are designed to be a better shopping experience for customers with autism. On these evenings, stores have numerous sensory adjustments in place including reduced lighting and reduced noise, with till scan sounds lowered, no in-store announcement and no background music. Lidl have also prepared an in-store map and shopping list for children with autism to prepare and organise their shopping trip that can be downloaded here.
