ALDI’s beloved Katie the Carrot has been appointed as the newest member of the Irish Women’s Rugby Team - as the team’s Chief Luck Officer. With Ireland’s women’s rugby team set to compete this month on the world’s biggest stage, ALDI is proud to support the Ireland women’s rugby team.

As part of her all-important charming role, Katie the Carrot will be on hand to bring luck to the women in green as they take on top-class opponents in Japan, Spain and New Zealand. Over the coming weeks, Katie the Carrot will be working round the clock to encourage the players, boost morale and keep spirits high – spreading the luck of the Irish right when it’s needed most!
Katie is calling for fans at home to play their part, too. From August 21st, Irish rugby supporters can rally behind the team and pick up their own lucky charm when the Katie the Carrot €4.99 arrives in ALDI stores nationwide on August 21st - just in time to root for the women in green.
Speaking about the appointment of Katie the Carrot as Chief Luck Officer, Béibhinn Parsons, ALDI Play Rugby ambassador and Ireland international said: “I am delighted about Katie the Carrot’s appointment as Chief Luck Officer. As we prepare to take on the best teams in the world, it’s great to know that Katie will be there to bring the luck of the Irish. It’s shaping up to be a brilliant month for women’s rugby and we hope the entire country will get behind us!”
As Irish Rugby’s Official Fresh Food Partner, ALDI is proud to support the Ireland women’s rugby and partner with stars of the game, including international players Linda Djougang and Béibhinn Parsons.
Girls’ participation in ALDI Play Rugby, a non-contact, primary school rugby programme developed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and supported by ALDI, has surged by 54% in just three years – from 41,860 in 2022/23 to nearly 65,000 in 2024/25. Girls now make up 48% of all players in the programme – a clear testament to ALDI’s commitment to women’s sport and a surefire sign that the rising stars of women’s rugby are supported and their future will be brighter than ever.
